Queues & Waiting

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง For Everyone

Jumping a queue is not smartness. It is theft of others' time.

A queue is a social contract โ€” everyone agrees to wait fairly. Breaking it breaks trust and creates chaos. India's queue culture needs to improve significantly.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Queue Etiquette

โœ… DO

Stand behind the person in front โ€” maintain one arm's gap

Why: Personal space is a basic comfort. Breathing down someone's neck is uncomfortable.

Let elderly, pregnant women, and differently abled people go first

Why: Priority queues exist for them. Respecting that is basic decency.

Politely tell queue-jumpers to go to the back

Why: Most people jump queues only when nobody speaks up. One calm voice is enough.

โŒ DON'T

Don't send a child to hold your place while you wait outside

Why: Queue-holding by proxy is still queue jumping.

Don't push or shove to gain position

Why: Physical aggression in a queue can injure elderly people and children.

Don't use influence, authority, or connections to bypass queues

Why: Using privilege to skip queues teaches everyone that rules are only for the weak.

Don't cut in saying "I just have one question" or "it will take a minute"

Why: Everyone in the queue has something quick. Your time is not more valuable.

๐Ÿ’›

Remember

"In a queue, everyone is equal. That is the whole point."
